An
alternative to workplace gift-giving
Are
you stumped when it comes to finding an appropriate way to celebrate
the holiday season with your fellow employees?
We were. Some
people were uncomfortable with gift exchanges among co-workers.
Others thought that by pooling the cash we would have spent on individual
gifts, we could give something of real value by contributing to
a charity that serves rural people. So thats what were
doing.
If you would
like to do the same, may we suggest the Heartland Centers
scholarship fund as a recipient? If you choose to do so, a gift
from your organization can be designated to assist someone from
your home state.
You should be
aware that even though we are a nonprofit, all contributions to
the Heartland Center are set aside in a special fund that supports
leadership training for individuals outside our organization. We
do not solicit contributions for our general operations.
We hope you
will consider joining with your co-workers this holiday season by
helping someone in a small town get the training they need to become
effective rural community builders. It really is a gift that keeps
on giving.
