Rural-Urban Connection added to popular Jackson Hole institutes

The two-day workshop, Strengthening the Rural-Urban
Connection
will be held May 20 - 21, immediately following Skill-Building for Stronger Communities

The Heartland Center will unveil its new training program, “Strengthening the Rural-Urban Connection,” on May 20 to May 21, 2002 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The two-day workshop is the result of a multi-year effort to bridge the gap between rural and urban community development practitioners. Training activities involve rural and urban perspectives in economic development, youth programs, housing, and issues related to environment and rapid growth. Educational design is based on learning activities developed through pilot projects with community developers from 15 states across the U.S.

The program will immediately follow the Heartland Center’s annual workshop “Skill-Building for Stronger Communities,” held May 15 to May 18, 2002. This program, now in its fifth year, attracts experienced practitioners from across the U.S., Canada and Australia. Topics include creating social capital, managing community conflict, sharpening facilitation skills, and developing sustainable programs. Early bird registration deadline is April 15, 2002, for the two workshops in May. A limited number of scholarships are available for both programs. For registration information contact the Heartland Center for Leadership Development at 402-474-7667 or 1-800-927-1115 or e-mail heartcld@aol.com.
