Heartland
Center Selected as Learning Partner
for Hitachi Foundation Initiative
The Heartland
Center will be serving as a Learning Partner for the Hitachi Foundation´s
Work Skills/Life Skills initiative. In this role, Center staff will
work with 11 grantee organizations in an effort to enhance their
capacity to achieve and sustain success over time. Focused on helping
underserved youth and their communities, these grantees will convene
several times during the three-year program and share critical elements
of their experiences.
Heartland Center
staff will design several pathways for communication and peer learning
among the grantees in addition to convening the organizations that
will use print and electronic media. Tools for participatory evaluation,
peer learning and innovative approaches to youth entrepreneurship
will also be developed. Vicki Luther and Milan Wall will serve as
project co-directors.
"Involvement
with the Hitachi Initiative offers our staff a chance to increase
our skills in working with underserved youth."
Milan Wall,
Co-Director
